Good morning, and Happy Monday!
Are you on Pinterest? If so, do you love it? I have to say, for myself, I’m a little obsessed over it. Before I discovered this amazing website, I was a bookmarking fool. Having been an avid blog reader for the past 5+ years, I’ve run across a million ideas that I love. I’d see something, a recipe I want to make for dinner, a shirt I want to buy when I have money again, a cool pillow cover I think I’ll sew, just as soon as I get that sewing machine from Grandma. I’d run across any number of these ideas that I’d want to store for future reference, so I would bookmark them. My Favorites button contained probably 50 folders, which each contained several subfolders, which each held innumerable links, most of which were labeled incoherently. “What the heck is yellow sunny bed ruffle girl??” Turns out that if someday I have a little girl, when she gets to the dreaded tween phase, I want her to have a rainbow themed room that sports this cute decorative white pillow onto which I am going to sew yellow ruffles via this tutorial that this link takes me to. Obviously!
Enter Pinterest.com. For those of you who have not discovered this yet, Pinterest is a website that lets you “pin” various pictures from anywhere on the internet. You create “boards” that work like a cork board at home, where you pin things you want to remember. When you pin something, say a tutorial on sewing ruffles onto pillows, it grabs a picture from the website (pillow with ruffles). Next, you type in the description by which you want to remember said picture (“Wouldn’t this be so cute with yellow ruffles on white pillow? Definitely have to make if I ever have a tween girl that loves rainbows!”) You then choose your board onto which you want this saved (“Room Decor For Future Daughter”) Then your cute little pillow picture pops onto your board with your clear description and links to your tutorial. Ta da!!! 5 years from now when me or a friend is looking for ways to save money while decorating a room for one of our daughters, I will just scroll through my Room Decor For Future Daughter board, see the cute pillow, and click the link to access the tutorial.
So, today I’m going to share some of my favorite Pins thus far. A couple people around teh internets are doing some cool things. Kirsty is making something from Pinterest everyday for a whole year! John and Sherry and Katie are doing a Pinterest Challenge, which would be a great way to get yourself motivated to create something. So far I’m about as likely to follow through on my pins as I was back when they were bookmarks. I’m hoping that posting my favorites here will help remind me to get moving on this stuff. It’s surely not going to create itself on it’s own!
Today’s pins are from my Gotta Make It board. It’s a collection of pins from websites that are tutorials or other things that I want to make myself. There is a artist in me somewhere and I’m determined to find her!
I love love love these shelves! I’ve coveted shelves like these for years, but cost always prevented me from buying some. When I found this tutorial from the infamous Ana White, I was ecstatic. They are going above my couch and I cannot wait!
Humble Home Print
This adorable print is something I’d love to add to my home art. Originally I wanted to put this in my kitchen, but now I’m thinking it would look lovely on a smaller scale, framed and standing on the shelves above.
Hanging Herb Planters
How brilliant is this?? I love fresh herbs, I can’t afford to purchase them all the time, especially things like Basil and Rosemary, which cost $3.50 + for a tiny amount that rots in three days. However, growing them inside isn’t possible because of a lack of window sills and a hungry cat, and putting them on the deck will invoke the curiosity of our hungry dog. Enter the Hanging Herb Planter! This would only cost me some Goodwill coffee cups and the seeds. I really need to get a move on this one. It’s too easy!
We bought new front loading washer & dryer when we moved into our house almost two years ago and we still have them sitting directly on the basement floor. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s annoying when the machine doors don’t clear the top of your wash basket. This is at the top of our “DO IT” list.
Okay, that’s it for today. What are you loving on Pinterest these days?
For the record, Pinterest.com does not know me or my blog. My existance is not on their radar whatsoever, therefore no one is compensating me for singing their praises.
